Children's Activities
Ready, Set Go!!
While the slower pace of life, top notch educational options and cost of living of Washington County will appeal to mom and dad, what about the kids? Family certainly comes first in Washington County and it shows through the numerous kid-centered activities throughout the region.
From on-going team sports at the Marietta Family YMCA to individual sports and educational activities at the Ely Chapman Center as well as a variety of neighborhood football, baseball and soccer leagues, kids dont stop moving here! The brand new Marietta Aquatic Center is sure to keep kids cool in the summer and the Incredible Community Playground provides hundreds of square feet of top-quality equipment for climbing, swinging, jumping, riding and sliding. Additionally, many communities tucked throughout Washington County, including Lowell, Cutler, Barlow, Barlett, Belpre, Lower Salem and Marietta boast wonderfully landscaped parks and playgrounds.
Seasonal and indoor activities abound for children in this area. A visit to Sweetapple Farm in Vincent, Ohio, in the fall is a must on the to-do list for most area children, as is a trip to the annual Marietta policemens picnic in the summer. The Castle in Marietta hosts a variety of children-themed workshops year-round and special art and music-related classes are held often at The Betsey Mills Club, through Artsbridge and The Parkersburg Art Center. Finally, every little girls dream can come true on a tour of the Toy and Doll Museum in historic Harmar Village and Middleton Doll Company in Belpre.
