Detroit Tigers/Indians/White Sox Ty Cobb & Shoeless Joe Jackson Circa 1913 11×14 Photograph (SGA Value Series) Framed Description
Ty Cobb. Joe Jackson. Many argue that these two were the greatest hitters to ever play the game of baseball. And the argument has merit. Ty Cobb hit .366 in his career; ‘Shoeless’ Joe Jackson hit .356, first and third on the all -time ranks. The Tigers, Ty Cobb had seven 100-RBI seasons and hit .300+ in every season from 1906 to 1928. In fact the only season he did not hit .300 was his rookie year. Cobb was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936. Jackson was born on July 16, 1888 in Pickens County, SC. He played both for Cleveland and Chicago and was considered the toughest hitter in the game. In fact, his slugging style was copied by a youngster named George Herman ‘Babe’ Ruth. Of course, Joe would have been in the very first class inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame if not for the ‘Black Sox’ World Series scandal. Amazingly, Joe had 19 hits, eight RBI’s and nine scored runs in that fixed Series. This amazing photograph of the two standing together from circa 1913 is a classic. The SGA Value Series is one of our best framed values and the perfect way to add this sepia 11×14 photograph to your wall at a great price.
